Recently, Chicago Kedzie Plaza hosted a free Family Fun Fair to celebrate the end of summer and the start of the back to school season.

The event attracted over 300 guests of all ages who enjoyed music, activities and free food donated by Market Fresh Foods and Kells Park Community Council. Guests were also able to get information from nearly 20 health fair vendors including: La Casa Norte, Mt. Sinai and Catholic Charities. Not only did these vendors provide important materials, they also hosted games and handed out fun prizes.

In addition to the health fair, the event featured a petting zoo, pony rides, dunk tank, face painting, balloon art and a bounce house. Kids received colorful, glittery designs from Miss Doreen’s Face Painting and took turns dunking Matanky staff, including the group’s CEO, James Matanky.

Immediately after the fair, attendees were directed to Kells Park for a movie night featuring Moana.

Not only did the fair serve as a fun, community event, but it also helped to collect crayons for the Crayon Initiative, a national organization whose mission is focused on recycling crayons and bringing them to hospitalized children. Together, with the Humboldt Park neighborhood, Matanky Realty Group was able to contribute to the Crayon Initiative.

Though this event has passed, the neighborhood is already looking forward to the plaza’s Halloween party that will be held October 31st from 5-11 p.m. For details regarding Matanky events and fairs, follow the team on FacebookTwitter and LinkedIn.
