Project Accountant – Construction Experience Required

Matanky Realty Group is looking for a Project Accountant to help our growing Construction division (MRG Construction Corp.) and bring our existing accounting team to a higher level. MRG Construction is in its 5th year of business and is growing rapidly.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Implement and maintain construction management system, including setting up projects (jobs), budgets, job costs, cost codes, contracts, change orders, purchase orders, and various construction progress reports.
• Monitor the progress of projects, looking into variances, and ensure that project billings are issued to clients and payments are collected
• Manage ERP system attributes to produce construction department reports
• Analyze and review construction status with Project/Construction Managers. Direct and participate in cost analyses.
• Provide project reporting and other financial analysis to Construction Team and other company management
• Prepare construction related journal entries for month-end close
• Analyze job variances and prepare job profit reports and gross margin analysis
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts as necessary
• Prepare and analyze Construction Dept. financial reports

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred
• 2-3 years of Construction Project Accounting
• Strong technology skills. Advanced experience in Excel (Pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, etc.)
• Comfortable working with large amounts of data
• Ability to read and interpret construction contracts, lien releases, and other pertinent construction documents.
• Ability to respond to common inquiries and/or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, members of the business community, peer professionals, and management.
• Entrepreneurial spirit with the ability to multi-task and switch gears as needed
• Goes above and beyond with excellent follow-through and responsiveness
• Sage 300 CRE software experience is a plus
