James Matanky Appointed ICSC Central Division Operations Chair

March, 2015 | Chicago, IL — Matanky Realty Group is proud to announce that the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) has appointed James Matanky as Central Division Operations Chair for a one-year term beginning May 20, 2015. “James has continually shown excellence in shaping communities and keeping Matanky Realty Group at the forefront commercial real estate and involved with ICSC on as many levels as possible” commented Terri Cox, Vice President of Matanky Realty Group. In this volunteer role, Mr. Matanky will engage individuals like himself who are willing to give of their time, talent, and experience in serving the Midwest Region as volunteer leadership in creating educational programming for shopping center management. “James has been a champion of the shopping center industry and one of the earliest to recognize the centers’ role in building and revitalizing strong communities, a cause he continues to champion, now on a national platform,” said Michael P. Kercheval, president & CEO of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC). “He is part of a critical network of volunteer leaders at ICSC that contribute to the strength and vitality of the association, I along with my colleagues look forward to working with James over the course of his term.”
Mr. Matanky is President of Matanky Realty Group, founded in 1955, as a full service real estate firm offering expertise in brokerage, development, redevelopment, leasing and management. Mr. Matanky often participates as a panelist for both the International Council of Shopping Centers and the Urban Land Institute. He has worked with the City of Chicago as a mentor for retail redevelopment, and has served on the Chicago Building Department Commissioner’s advisory panel. He is the Chairman of the Chicago Stockyard Commission SSA#13. In addition, Mr. Matanky serves on the board of Governors of Hebrew University of Jerusalem and is a VP of the JCC of Metropolitan Chicago. James Matanky has greatly impacted Illinois for the better through his social and civic involvements, particularly serving the community in procuring developments in under-served communities.
